Removing Streaks from Floors
If you have spent time and effort in cleaning an office building, school hallway or other industrial setting, streaks in the finish of a floor can ruin all of the hard work you did with your floor polisher. However, there are a few steps you can take to remove those streaks and leave the floors looking perfect.
Dirty janitorial equipment could be causing the streaks. Make sure that your mops, buckets and wringers have been cleaned thoroughly before using them. Dirty mops can leave behind oily residue that will streak otherwise clean floors.
Another issue is that the previous coat of polish might have been applied too thinly. This could be because not enough polish was used or because the job was done too quickly. It’s also possible that a second coat was applied before the first coat was dry. In this case, the best option is to use a floor buffer to remove the stains and – if necessary – strip and recoat the floor to completely remove the streaks.
