What are FAIR Plans?

Home insurance is one of the most basic things that you can have as a homeowner and is something that most people take for granted that they will have access to when they purchase a home. There are dozens of online sites that offer free home insurance quotes to people, giving them the option of being able to choose a wide range of policies and protection levels.

However, not everyone can get home insurance. This might be because of issues they had in the past with previous claims or bankruptcies or simply because they live in an urban neighborhood that insurance companies consider too dangerous and therefore too much of a risk to ensure.

This is why Congress created the Urban Property Protection and Reinsurance Act of 1968 – to provide insurance for people who otherwise couldn’t get a home owner insurance quote in the open market. Since then, these FAIR Plans have helped thousands of people insure their property against manmade and natural disasters.
