First, make sure all candidates come with adequate customer support. While credit card processing software is meant to be user-friendly, many drop the ball when it comes time to offer a helping hand.

Secondly, find out how long it will take you to get your money. Just because someone pays you with their credit card immediately, doesn’t mean you’ll actually receive the money right away. While waiting a few days is understandable, some can have you waiting a few months.

Lastly, there’s no excuse for payment processing that isn’t secure these days. Be sure to do your research and make sure that any software you consider is reliable and can defend against potential prying eyes that may target your site.
